Salesperson Licensing

There are both live/in-person and online salesperson licensing training options available through CTAR’s Real Estate School.

Salesperson Licensing Prerequisites

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have earned a high school diploma or GED.
  • Pass a criminal background check through the SC Real Estate Commission A criminal background check is required of all licensure applicants from a source approved by the Commission Pursuant to S.C. Salesperson Licensing Training Requirements

Complete Unit I: 60-Hour Fundamentals of Real Estate Course

After passing the course exams you will receive your Unit I certificate of completion which is valid for 5 years from the date of scheduled course completion.

Your License Will Be Issued to You by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission

Broker Licensing Requirements

Completing the broker licensing courses will give you the training and education you need to understand how the business of real estate works far beyond buyer and seller transactions. Broker IIIA (30 hrs) and Broker IIIB (30 hrs) are the two (2) courses required by the Real Estate Commission that must be completed in order to apply for your Broker’s license.

Broker Licensing Prerequisites

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Have graduated high school or hold certificate of equivalency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • Have 5 years as an actively licensed SC salesperson within the last 7 years and complete the Commission-approved Broker IIIA and IIIB courses (60 hours).

Education & Experience Exemptions

  • Applicant holds a law degree.
  • Applicant holds a bachelor or higher degree with a major in real estate.
  • Georgia reciprocity applicant (Licensed by written exam and is a current GA resident).
  • Complete the Commission-approved fingerprint and social security number background checks.
  • Successfully pass the national and state examinations.

Broker Licensing Training Requirements

For LLR licensing process and fees contact the SC Real Estate Commission. The cost to complete the broker licensing course at CTAR varies depending on your selection of courses, purchased separately or bundled. Prices include the course textbook and all course materials.

Broker IIIA Course - Brokerage Management

This course covers the topics & materials needed to establish a real estate office/brokerage in SC. The Brokerage Management Course (Unit III-A) is one of the two, thirty-hour courses that must be completed before applying to take the state Broker Exam. (OPL050005) 30 Hours.

Property managers can pursue a number of different paths in the real estate field. Property managers can oversee residential or commercial rental properties for large and small-scale investors, manage apartment complexes or work with a residential or commercial brokerage.
